Tiong Howe is widely considered the father of financial planning, having achieved national and regional recognition
and success in the financial planning industry and insurance profession for over 40 years. As Chairman of IPPFSH, he
has recorded many firsts and overseen many changes for the betterment of the industry.
Over the years, Tiong Howe has assumed numerous industry and professional leadership roles. He was president of
Life Underwriters Association of Singapore (today IFPAS) and was also the founding president of the Singapore Society
of Financial Services Professionals. Under his leadership as President of LUA (IFPAS), he established the formation of
the Asia Pacific Life Insurance Council, today known as Asia Pacific Financial Services Association, the largest
conference of financial planning and insurance practitioners in Asia Pacific.
Tiong Howe has mentored and coached financial planning advisers in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong and
has spoken at numerous industry conferences and seminars in the region. He was the first in the region to earn the
Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designations from the American Society.
